Nantong, Shanghai
Amid the COVID-19 situation, employees from our companies in Nantong (China) and Shanghai (China) participated as volunteer PCR testing staff in nearby areas.
Some employees in Shanghai delivered daily necessities to local residents during the lockdowns while others volunteered with elderly people living alone, helping them purchase necessities through their smartphones.
Kaohsiung
21 employees participated in the Kaohsiung charity marathon, completing the running courses to promote health and the company’s relationship with the community. Participation fees were donated to a welfare organization through the charity marathon’s organizer.
Farmington Hills
In Farmington Hills (USA), employees participated in maintenance activities at a rain garden (planted area designed to temporarily hold and filter water runoff from heavy rains, etc.) located near the Polyplastics office. These activities are organized by a non-profit organization that protects local rivers. 22 participants received training on the functions of rain gardens and the importance of native plants and then worked on weeding the site.
Kuantan
In Kuantan (Malaysia), employees cleaned up the beach near the plant. The entire community located near the plant participated in this activity. Approximately 200 people participated, including our employees and employees of neighboring chemical manufacturers and government officials. On the day of the cleanup, participants collected about 500 kilograms of trash, including plastic, empty cans, and glass.
Raunheim
In Raunheim (Germany), employees sponsor a local beekeeper group that protects the bees in the area near the office, supporting its activities. In thanks, beekeepers give freshly harvested honey to the Raunheim employees and their families.
Kaohsiung
In Kaohsiung, aiming for employees to contribute to the prosperity of local areas and raise awareness of coastal preservation, a beach cleanup day was held near the plant. 16 employees participated and collected around 50 kilograms of trash, including plastic bottles, plastic bags, and empty bottles.
Fuji
In the Fuji area (Japan), employees participate in the “Autumn Clean Operation” every year, which includes cleanup activities on river embankments, beaches, etc., organized by locals living near the plant. In FY2022, in addition to 40 employees and their families, the members of the SHIZUOKA BlueRevs rugby team, our partner, volunteered to pick up empty cans, bottles, PET bottles, scrap iron, plastic trash, etc., on embankments and beaches.
